Post-Expo excitement!
We just got back from the DC/VA tiny home expo put on by TINY Houses Across America and I don't know about Dave, but I have a fire under my ass now! We met so many incredible people, and heard so many stories, and now I cannot wait to be a part of this community! Imagine two skoolies meeting in a WalMart parking lot, discovering they're headed the same way, and culminating in a convoy across the country, meeting new people from all walks of life who just want to try something new! We even met people on a Facebook group from Baltimore who recognized Dave from a past!
Well, we.. okay, mostly Dave here, got to work plugging all the holes that were left when we pulled all the seats out. Once that was done, we also painted the floor with oil-based paint for extra protection.
We also made huge progress in the thing we've been putting off the longest, and arguably the most important part, the design! I tried the Sketchup thing, but I didn't want to dump the time into learning a new tech when I have enough Visio experience to be dangerous, and Dave can help me the rest of the way, so that's what we went with.
Below is the beta of our design. I recently saw a galley kitchen in a skoolie that I fell in love with, and I really wanted an L-shaped booth seating arrangement for the dining, and with much effort I made it work. Dave realized that the existing Ikea butcher block we have could save us a ton of work, and with some ridiculous serendipity, it fits perfectly. We're going to have a freezeless fridge and hide a deep freezer in the counters, which I think is absolute genius. So, take a look and tell us what you think! Everything is close to scale, the shower hasn't been picked or measured yet so we opted for big.
